Pop Plugs Review

Not until we experience it is it more that just words. After we experience it, there is no need
for words. - Milton Trager

In the past year or so I've been experimenting with some anal play.  I have to say, I'm not sure what the hold up was.  It's nice.  Very nice.  Despite that, I was a bit intimidated looking at toys that are specifically for anal play.  I ended up settling for something very similar to the Pop Plugs offered at Babeland.  As a first time user, I naturally purchased the small.  Well, small was a bit too small.  It was much smaller than I'd expected.  Long story short, when I saw that Babeland was offering the Pop Plugs for review, and how similar they looked to the small I already have, I selected a medium to see how it worked for me.

Pop Plugs are made by Doc Johnson and are offered in three sizes, small, medium, and large.  As I mentioned above, I selected the medium.  They feature a narrow tip, that graduates into a larger bulb shape, before narrowing again to help the plug stay in place.  There is a ring at the end for easy handling.  Pop Plugs are made of 100% silicone and are phthalate free.  They are only available in one color, which is an adorable shade of pink (did I just call a butt plug adorable? I think I did.).  As with all silicone toys, it is non porous and this toy is very easy to clean and disinfect.  They can be boiled for 5-10 minutes, placed in a dishwasher (though personally, I wouldn't, but, that is just me), or simply washed with soap and hot water.  They can be shared if they are disinfected between uses as well.  As this is silicone, be careful not to use this with a silicone based lubricant to avoid melting.  I have been using Sliquid Oceanics or Blossom Organics most often lately.

Measurements:
  • Small: 1" x 1-4/5"
  • Medium: 1-1/4" x 2-1/2"
  • Large: 1-1/2" x 2-1/2"

You can see above, the medium compared to my thumb.  It is very firm all over, except the ring at the end, which is flexible.  I worried for a minute that the ring might be too flexible, would it be possible to break pulling on it?  I tried to stretch it a bit and it seems fine.  The first time I used this I felt like it was larger than I expected, but I thought maybe I didn't have a proper warm up beforehand.  As I have tried it again, I have noticed that while it feels amazing, and it quite comfortable in (I can walk around with this in if I want and it doesn't bother me at all, the ring is very soft and flexible), I'm a bit sore and stretched afterward and I know I need to work on getting used to something as large at this.  I think it will be awhile before I ever try a large, if I ever do try a large.  I'm quite content with the medium.  I really like that as this is silicone, it warms with the body and retains heat.  I enjoy the feeling of "popping" the plug in and out a few times during play, but sometimes it does feel as if it is going to pop out on it's own when I am not ready for it to, and when I orgasm, it often does pop out.

Overall I think this is a great toy for someone who is new to anal play and would like to experiment with a safe toy.  It is simple, easy to use, inexpensive (the medium will run you $18 at Babeland), and easy to clean.

Thanks, Babeland, for providing me with and allowing me to review Pop Plugs!
